EASTER

Easter weekend was marvelous: full of birthday parties, bridal showers, Easter dinner with family (where I picked up some great recipes), and singing in The Garden, an allegorical oratorio, or musical tribute to Jesus Christ. It was a busy weekend, but a happy one! And a good reminder that my Heavenly Father loves me, individually, as much as he loves anyone else or all of mankind-and the same is true for you! I love the hope in the resurrection of Jesus Christ, that all of our sins AND suffering can be fixed, made up for, through His atonement.

Making Easter Bunnies (so what if it looks like a dog):
strawberry cake, vanilla icing, coconut, & raspberries
Got Christmas presents from my Dad-just in time for Easter!!
That's how he rolls. Personally, I like spreading out the Christmas joy!

Movie on a Museum

The Hirshhorn Museum has this exhibit going nightly until May 13th. So I remarked about how there is SO much to do in this fabulous city and reluctantly trudged eagerly hastened over to see "Song 1" based on the 1934 pop song, I Only Have Eyes For You. Just when you thought you'd had enough of obscure, bizarre, wonderful exhibits, the Smithsonian outdoes themselves again. Nicely done.

The Great Shoe Rescue of 2012

It started out innocently enough...

The fabulous Sarah organized the outing and the lovelies Camille, Jennifer, Rachel and others brought food and treats!

Watched a beautiful couple take wedding pictures,

fed ducks cookies (don't worry, no chocolate)...

then, as we were preparing to end a thoroughly pleasant evening...

disaster struck! Stephanie's shoe departed her foot...into the Tidal Basin!!!

Gazing in horror...kind of

She had nearly resigned her unfortunate footwear to a watery grave when two resourceful young men came to her rescue. With a little quick thinking,

ingenuity,

and a few tense moments,

they saved the day!!

Nicely done everyone! I always knew we were a good team.

Oh Yeah, THAT'S Why I Live Here!

This past weekend was awesome!

Friday Night: ice skating at the National Gallery of Art with, you know, 30 friends in the most beautiful (it's mid-April right?) weather ever!

Saturday: ridiculously good weather continues to the point that I question my sanity wearing a jacket the first week in January. Lunch at fabulous burger place, going back, but not soon enough.

Trip to the Hirshhorn to see Andy Warhol's exhibit. And...the museum guard totally let us in on the secret for the dark room/red light exhibit!

Stopped by the National Gallery of Art (inside this time) to find my favorite works of art (more on them later!). Saw a little da Vinci and lots more.

Finally, had a great time on the National Harbor at Gaylord National's Ice Exhibit, an interactive indoor wonderland created entirely of ice! It takes dozens of Chinese artisans almost a month to create each winter and is housed in a large tent kept at 9 degrees Fahrenheit! We got to wear giant blue parkas and go down an ice slide.

Basically, fabulous.

Also contemplated how I would feel about my future children playing on half a giant man protruding out of sand.

Funny, I think I'd rather a slide and swings. Crazy, I know. Bring on some more good times DC, bring 'em on!
